Labor Day

For Labor Day me and Lisa went to the Extreme Yard sale in Salt lake, there were some descent deals, not as many as we hoped for but we didn't leave empty handed which means it was a success!   Afterwards, we decided we were going to head up to Midway (40 min drive) for Swiss days which was going on Labor day weekend... but apparently not on Labor day. How lame is that?  So we just ended up taking the very scenic, hour and a half route home, no big deal.  That night we decided to have a BBQ up in the canyon as well.  Overall, a great day.

And what has Kellen been up to in his three short months of life, you ask? Well... he can now roll over, the first time he did it i missed it. Apparently he rolled into the wall and bonked his head, he was MAD! Now i don't put him anywhere near the wall during tummy time.  He has a super high squeaky voice, and will occasionally carry on a conversation with me.  He likes to barf all day every day, i am covered in spit up by the end of every day, and it doesn't even phase me anymore.  Last week he weighed 12lbs 8oz and he has graduated into his three to six month clothes, he is getting so big!  Oh, and he makes the cutest little mouse ever!

we made it!

We survived the move to Utah and are very happy to be back! It has been a lot of fun seeing all our old friends and lots of family.  The move wasn't so bad for us because we didn't take everything we owned to Oregon in the first place, only the essentials so that made bringing it all back much easier.  I am defiantly looking forward to using all of our old furniture and kitchen appliances again though.  We got so much stuff for our wedding that i seriously only used for like six months, it will be like Christmas when i bust it all out again!

This last Saturday we blessed baby Kellen.  The blessing was beautiful and we were fortunate enough to have  lots of Nate's family in town that weekend.  We did the blessing at my parents house and then had a nice lunch afterwards, it turned out perfectly!

Since we were busy visiting with family most of the day we didn't end up getting any good pictures of Kellen, so me and my sister did a little photo shoot a few days later when he turned 8 weeks.  I LOVE them, he is seriously cute!  And even though he has not been the easiest baby, his smiles make up for all his bad days.

6 weeks

I cannot believe my baby is 6 weeks old already!  Time has flown by so quickly!  We just took him in for his two month appointment, we did it early though since we are moving and wont have insurance in Utah for a while.  He is a big boy, 11 lbs 7 oz, 23 in. long and perfectly healthy, thank goodness!  I don't know if all first time moms tend to be like this, but i have become a freak worrying about his well being... did he eat too much or not enough, is he too hot or cold, why is he spitting up so much, whats going on with his soft spot, why does he have so much gas, whats with all this crying business... and on and on it goes.  My pediatricians office has gotten about a million phone calls from me, haha. Nate is always telling me to relax and i am always thinking, good thing you are not the only one taking care of this child or he would be dead!  kidding, but at least i can admit i have become a crazy woman, i don't even care though. It's only because i am so obsessively in love with him!  Even though i can get totally overwhelmed with all this mom stuff i honestly love it so much, it has been the most exhausting but definitely the most amazing experience i have ever had.  He is adorable and so much fun to have in our lives... we sure love him!

Kellen Lyle

Our wonderful baby Kellen has finally arrived!  He was a little stinker and decided to be 4 days late.  Being overdue was pretty miserable.  Mostly because i spent every day for the last 2 weeks walking like crazy, doing the stairs over and over and over, walking around the mall, downtown, pushing myself to the limit PRAYING i would go into labor.  All the while i was having doctors appointments every three days to see if i was dilating at all on my own in order to induce me, and of course i never did. Even though i didn't go that far over, it felt like a lifetime to me.

I went in to be checked on Sunday the 12th, and was on the verge of tears the entire way there cause i knew nothing was going to change and they would send me home and tell me to come back in three days. After they hooked me up to all the monitors, we spent 2 hours waiting for the verdict.  Turns out i had already started slow labor (i would have never known if i was at home)  and they agreed to keep me and put me on pitocin to help me progress faster, HALLELUJAH!  I was so mentally ready to have this baby all i could think was bring on the pain!  Although that changed quickly when i discovered just how painful it could be.

I really cant complain very much about my labor and delivery, everything went much faster and smoother then i expected.  I was on pitocin for 2 hours with no pain at all before my water broke on its own.  It was the weirdest thing i have ever experienced to have an amazing amount of fluid coming out of you that you have no control of.  After that my contractions quickly got faster and much much more painful,  i went through 2 hours of hard labor before getting my epidural and after that life was bliss again!  I really have no idea how anyone could ever have a baby naturally after the pain i went through for that short amount of time.  I now know i could never do it.

By then i was dilated to a 5 and the nurse said on average it takes about another 5 hours to be ready to push.  Well an hour and a half later i was at a ten and ready to push!  I called my mother and told her to get to the hospital quick!  Unfortunately for her (and gratefully for me)  i only pushed for ten min.  before our beautiful baby boy was born!  she walked in the room about 3 min after the big debut.  At 8lb 9oz he was strong and healthy and the most adorable thing i have ever seen in my life!  I love him so much already i can hardly put it into words.  I will soon take more pics of the adorable little booger and keep you posted on life at home.

happy baby

So today i was grocery shopping when a random man came up to me with a stack of coupons, handed some to me and said hey hope this helps you out! I didn't really know what he was giving me at first so i just said a quick thank you, but after looking at them it was for free happy melts for baby.  Upon checking to see what they actually were, i realized they were expensive, and he had just given me coupons for 8 free bags! Seriously made my day!  I'm not going to lie, i did feel a bit like the ladies on extreme couponing while i was going through the check out, only on a MUCH smaller scale.  But it was so exciting to see how much money i had just saved! This may be the beginning of the end for me.

Almost a mom on mothers day

If you are wondering why it has taken me so long to update my blog, its because i have been wanting to take a picture of my belly before i did and it took me this long to take a dang picture!  I only think about it in the mornings when Nate is at school, and by the time i get home from work all i want to do is cuddle and go to bed.  But this is the latest and greatest... one month left!! I am hoping it ends up being more like 2 weeks left but i doubt it.  Since i have been pregnant, i have gotten some funny comments from people who I see at work on a regular basis.  Since my fingers are now so swollen that i can no longer wear my wedding ring, i think people are confused with a very young looking pregnant girl, who is possibly single.  The best of all comments came about a week ago from a regular who i see every couple weeks.  We have flyers out on the desk advertising that we are hiring a new receptionist, so she asks me "why are you guys hiring?" to which i reply "well i am having a baby soon so they are trying to find someone to replace me when i leave"  and her response "oh... you are pregnant?  I just thought you were overweight"  uuuuhhhhh what?  I have no response to that.  I am lucky that i don't feel like a big fatty or that comment could have really hurt!

But life has been going really great for us lately.  So many blessings have come our way over the last couple months, the biggest one being that Nate got a job!  We are so happy, the job market is beyond bad right now and we were in a panic trying to determine what life would be like if he did  not end up getting work. He applied to about 100 jobs and got a total of 3 interviews. Right now he is the only person in his program to have gotten a job, so yes we are very grateful!  We will also be moving back to Utah this summer which we are pretty excited about.  I have really enjoyed being in Oregon, and i honestly would have been happy here forever (which was the original plan) but with most of my family and friends being in Utah, i am really happy to be close to them again.

So now that we have a plan in our future it cannot come soon enough!  I am so excited to have this baby and have my mom come out here to help me. We have vacations planned all summer and then moving!  I just want it to all start right now, bring on the life changes already!

Spring Break

So for spring break me and Nate decided to head to Utah for our last visit before baby boo arrives. Since we didn't decide that we were going until a few weeks before, the flights were outrageous and we ended up having to drive. Luckily i have a fantastic husband who ended up doing all the driving so it wasn't bad at all! For me that is. Although i did have to pee about every half hour like usual but its WAY more annoying when you are in a car. Anyways, we had a great time visiting with everyone! Me and my sister threw me a baby shower while i was there as well, which turned out SO cute! And you appreciate decor and food so much more when you are the one planning and preparing it. Here are some pics, if i look tired in all of them its cause i was! throwing a party can apparently really take its toll on you! But probably only if you are pregnant.
